LARES - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO 5D/4N
The Lares Trek, takes place on a hidden valley that very few outsiders have ever entered. The llama shepherds and weavers that inhabit some of the villages of this obscure place, of high Andean Glaciers and brilliant lakes. this garb was imposed on them by the Conquistadors, who extracted the tribute of their colorful textiles. Their isolation has allowed this tradition to continue.

The last Incas died hundreds of years ago, but they left behing an impressive array of monuments by which to remember them. Amazing as their archaeological sides are, they form only the most apparent vestige of a lost civilization. Ancient beliefs, traditions and customs live on, hidden in the hearts, minds and daily lives of the Andean people. You need only explore their highland home to glimpse a culture that has survived conquest to struggle on through the centuries.
